Cairo: the government of the city of the Saudi holy city of Mecca closed a gymnasium for women for failing to comply with coronavirus prevention protocols, according to media reports.
The license of the facility, in Al Shawqia, will not be renewed as a form of sanction that also includes fines, said the head of the Directorate of Women’s Supervision, Al Anud Bin Mansi.
“Inspection visits to all women’s establishments will intensify in their commitment to all the rules,” she said.
“Inspection groups will be lax in carrying out their tasks in cooperation with municipalities to monitor and trip over infringing shops,” the official added.

While easing several barriers induced by the virus in recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has warned that it opposes violating measures to involve the highly contagious disease, adding respect for social distance, mandatory wearing of a protective mask, and a ban on giant meetings.
The kingdom has recorded a total of 294,519 cases of viruses and 3,303 similar deaths.
