The number of new COVID-19 cases in Tokyo stood at 4,790 on Wednesday, up 723 from last week, and the count appears to rise weekly for the first time in 15 days, the metropolitan government said.
The capital reported five new deaths among COVID-19 patients that day, while the number of critically ill patients through its criteria stood at 13, one more than the previous day.
