Currently, the country has 3 Indian COVID-19 vaccines that are in other stages of clinical trials, the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) said Tuesday.
“Right now, we have 3 Indian vaccines that are in other stages of clinical trials. The 2 vaccines: the Bharat Biotech vaccine and the Zydus Cadila DNA vaccine have completed phase 1 and will begin phase 2, while the third is the Oxford vaccine.” said Dr. Balram Bhargava, CEO, ICMR at a press conference.
“The Oxford vaccine, manufactured through the Serum Institute of India (SII), was approved for Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials, which begin within a week at 17 sites,” he added.
Dr. Bhargava, however, said social estrangement and smart hygiene are the most productive “vaccines” you have now and even after.
“Physical distance, wearing a mask, smart hand hygiene are the most productive vaccine you can have right now and even after. We will have to continue those measures,” he said.
