COVID-19: The moment stage of Oman’s serology will begin today

Muscat: The national serological survey on COVID-19 through the Ministry of Health of Oman that began on July 12 has concluded its first phase as announced through the Ministry of Health. The moment phase of this vital investigation will begin today and will last five days. .

The cross-sectional survey includes all parts of the Sultanate, Omanis and expatriate volunteers whose blood samples were tested as part of this exercise. The challenges posed during this phase were overcome and the collection of samples have been completed as per requirement with the necessary diagnostics carried out. Work is now underway to finalise the results that will be shared soon in the public domain, the MoH said.

The schedule for the time phase, which was scheduled to begin last week, has been repositioned due to the Eid’s extended leave and the lockout period.The next phase of serological research will end in time to assess the disease spread trend.the serological survey will help the Sultanate’s physical fitness government identify patterns of infection and immunity that will facilitate decisions based on epidemiological data.a five-day consultation, with a period between each of the consultations.

Currently, many countries around the world are in different stages of continuous serological survey that further underlines the importance of this survey. The survey aims to assess the extent of infection according to age groups, monitor cases not diagnosed in the laboratory, and estimate the level of infection at the governorate level and the rate of infection in asymptomatic cases and the cumulative number of infected cases. In addition, it will assess the impact of the standard of living on the extent of the disease and the effects of lockdown on the spread of the epidemic.

The COVID-19 tracking application submitted through Oman’s Ministry of Health, called Tarassud, has been identified through the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the toughest technological responses implemented to date in the Middle East to monitor the movement and spread of COVID.-19 and patient compliance with isolation measures.
