Covid-19 tests will be conducted at Heathrow for travellers in Italy, Hong Kong

Passengers travelling to Hong Kong and Italy from London Heathrow Airport can now perform Covid-19 (loop-mediated isothermal amplification) tests prior to departure.

Lately, both destinations require incoming passengers to provide evidence of a negative check before departing for their journey, and both are content with passengers who use the immediate check amenities found at some airports such as Heathrow.

The personal check costs 80 euros and will take effect in about 60 minutes. Passengers wishing to install must create an account and eBook in advance with the Collinson Group service provider.

The airline’s check-in commands will be provided to passengers who plan their time. Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airlines will provide proof to customers.

LAMP verification is described as a less expensive and faster form of Covid-19 verification compared to PCR verification used through the NHS, and Heathrow checks will be carried out through nurses at Terminals 2 and 5.

Passenger and airline demand will be monitored while the tests are administered during the first 4 weeks at Heathrow.

Collinson has partnered with Swissport, a ground-level airport service provider, to offer a “proof of arrival” facility at Heathrow Airport in August, but is awaiting UK government approval.

The aviation industry is urging the UK government to provide a verification regime as an option for passengers who are isolated for 14 days when returning to the UK from a country that is not on the official list of safe brokers.

Collinson’s David Evans said: “As countries around the world load the UK on their list of ‘high-risk’ countries, we want to find a way to work with governments, major brands and other commercial entities to securely open up outside Britain.

“Government restrictions around the world will continue to fluctuate, however, we, with our medical facilities and network of biotech partners, have the ability to tailor our supply to the needs of the country, ensuring that, regardless of the restriction, we can provide a way to continue traveling, safely, without any negative effect on the UK’s public test capability. »
