Covid-19 test kit maker Becton to Singapore operations

The product, known as BD Bactec, will be used in hospitals in Singapore and will be exported worldwide, Chan said at a press convention on a scale at the local Workplace in Becton on Wednesday. The company also aims to expand its production to other product lines and create more than three hundred new jobs in the island state over the next few years, he said.

Becton is also running in the manufacture of an immediate Covid-19 verification kit that he coordinated and supervised through his team in Singapore, Chan said. Such kits can play a vital role in helping the country reopen its airports and aviation sector, he said.

Speaking more broadly about the biomedical sector, Chan said that company investments in the region are expected to create more than 1,300 jobs in Singapore over the next 3-5 years. On Tuesday, the Health Department said Singapore aims to create around 7,500 new jobs and 1,600 internship positions in the fitness sector by the end of 2021.
