Tamil Nadu has reported more than 2,000 coronavirus cases for a day in a row with another 2,385 people testing positive in the past 24 hours, adding two returnees from Oman and the United States, the Ministry of Public Health said on Friday.
The count is 34,77,570 to date.
There were no deaths and the death toll remained unchanged at 38,026, according to a bulletin here.
A total of 1,321 more people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, totaling 34,27,386, leaving 12,158 active infections.
Witnessing a backlog of infections, the state crossed the 2000 mark with 2069 cases on Thursday.
Chennai accounted for the peak of new cases with 1025, followed by Chengalpattu 369, Tiruvallur 121 and Coimbatore 118, while the rest was distributed in other districts. Dharmapuri, Karur and Ramanathapuram saw the fewest with 3 each.
The state capital, Chennai, has noted the number of active infections, with 5,173 cases. Overall, the number is 7,62,482.
A total of 32,960 samples have been analyzed in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of tests performed to 6,71,80,149 so far, according to the bulletin.
