The global spot of farmed salmon continues to be affected by the global pandemic. The spot of Chilean-grown salmon on the U.S. market continues to fall this week, week 35 2020, two sources told Undercurrent News.
Meanwhile, in the UK, the costs of Scottish-grown salmon are still recovering a little, supported by the government’s “eat out to help” programme, which encourages others to dine in restaurants in August.
Cermaq had first announced its goal of closing the Ancud plant, along with other facilities on the island of Chiloé in Dalcahue, in April.
However, pre-interest profits, taxes, depreciations and amortizations did benefit in the same way, from EUR 13.3 million in the second quarter of 2019 to EUR 9.5 million in 2020.
“Difficult fishing situations and pelagic fishing relief, the effect of the COVID pandemic on the market, and the radical renewal and technological modernization of the company’s demersal fish processing in Nordurgardur characterized operations during the first part of the year,” said Brim President Kristjan Davidsson.
“Without the end of these eye-view price lists and the new burden of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is also heavily weighing heavily in the industry, it is imperative that Maine lobster manufacturers get the ministry early,” they wrote.
