The U. S. Department of Energy The U. S. government has decided that the Covid-19 pandemic originated from a lab leak in China, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The report’s surprising finding, which differs from most other U. S. agencies, differs from most other U. S. agencies. In the U. S. , it’s a direct result of “new intelligence,” indicating that a shift of laboratory fate in China likely spread the virus. In just over 3 years, global contagion has claimed the lives of more than 6 million people worldwide and more than one million Americans.
However, according to those who read the classified report, the Energy Department’s conclusion was reached with “little confidence. “Sunday’s report is an unexpected shift in the Energy Department’s position, as it had doubts in the past about how the virus emerged.
The Department of Energy is the time when the US company labels a lab leak as the source of the pandemic after the FBI, but US officials from the two agencies came to the same conclusion for other reasons. In the entire intelligence community, there is no single conclusion. about how the virus emerged; White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the United States still holds a “diversity of opinions” about the origins of covid. He added that some elements of the intelligence facilities “just don’t have enough data. “to be sure. “
“Here’s what I can tell you,” Sullivan continued, “President [Joe] Biden has continually asked each and every detail of our intelligence network to put effort and resources into getting to the bottom of this problem. “
“If we get other data or data, we will share it with Congress and share it with the American people. But at the moment, nothing definitive has emerged from the intelligence network on this issue,” Sullivan said.
According to the Journal, U. S. officials declined to give the main points of the new intelligence that triggered an update in the Energy Department’s conclusion.
An August 2021 report indicated that four details from the intelligence community, as well as the national intelligence panel, “assessed with little confidence that the initial maximum SARS-CoV-2 infection was likely due to exposure to herbs to an inflamed animal”; a detailed idea (now known as the FBI) that the virus originated from a lab leak “with moderate confidence”; And the 3-piece analysts were unsure.
China has rejected theories of lab leaks. In July 2022, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, “The theory of laboratory leaks is a lie invented by anti-China forces for political purposes, which has nothing to do with science. “
The report came days after the Department of Health and Human Services released 900 pages of documents to the House Special Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic after the panel introduced an investigation into the origins of the virus and the Biden administration’s handling of the pandemic. The investigation follows the October 2022 report through Senate Republicans that said the “most likely” origin is an “investigation-related incident” in China.
“We have considerations about (Wuhan) and the type of studies and studies that were being done there,” said committee chairman Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), who asked HHS records. “So we need to dig deeper into that. “
Wenstrup is also for President Anthony Fauci’s former chief medical adviser, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Beccera, National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins.
