COVID-19: Prayers at suspended mosques in Bahrain

Dubai: Prayers at mosques, collective worship and religious assemblies will remain suspended in Bahrain, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs announced yesterday.

The suspension will continue until the rate of coronavirus infections (COVID-19) decreases to the desired degrees set by the authorities, the council said.

The resolution was taken after consultations between the council and the national organization for the fight opposed to COVID-19, the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the heads of the Sunni and Jaafari endowments, the council said in a statement.

He added that in direct meetings and contacts the spread of COVID-19 to a higher level, “therefore, and on the basis of its devoted responsibility, on the recommendations of Sharia law to protect lives and not spread them to danger or pandemics, and in the recommendations of the competent medical government Array the council announces that prayers in mosques , collective worship and devoted meetings shall remain suspended.
