Inspections were carried out over the weekend at 4 grocery shopping centers in Dubai
After a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, Dubai police said it issued several fines and warnings at the emirate’s major grocery malls over the weekend.
Dubai police issued 221 infractions for dressing in a mask and 3,283 warnings at 4 grocery shopping centers after inspections by police and volunteers.
Inspections took place on Friday and Saturday, September 12 at Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif and Dubai Festival City.

The Dubai Mall issued 127 fines for dressing in a mask, issued a total of 1,290 warnings and recorded 11 violations for non-compliance with the required social est breach protocols.
At the Mall of the Emirates, 17 fines were imposed for dressing in a mask, 1,091 warnings were issued and 7 offences were recorded for lack of sufficient physical distance.

Meanwhile, in downtown Mirdif, 28 fines were issued for not dressing in a mask, 208 warnings were issued and 8 violations were reported for picking up others without maintaining the distance between them.
Police said 694 warnings, 49 fines for not dressing in a mask and five infractions for others collecting without physical distance were issued at Dubai Festival City’s grocery shopping center.

Police reaffirmed that the fines and consequences specified in Resolution 38 of the Attorney General’s Office 2020 and the amendments defined in Resolution 54 of 2020 will be implemented to all offenders.
The government of the United Arab Emirates reported on Saturday (12 September) that it had detected 1,007 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest number of cases in the country since the start of the pandemic.

The total number of official instances registered in the United Arab Emirates is 78,849, of which 68,983 were recovered and 339 deaths.
