COVID-19 outbreaks in sumo stables disrupt Nagoya meeting

All wrestlers from the Sadogatake and Tamanoi stables have retired from the ongoing Nagoya Grand Sumo due to COVID-related reasons, the Japan Sumo Association announced Wednesday.

No. 2 Maegashira Kotonowaka, one of 49 wrestlers from either group who caught the virus or was in close contact with someone who tested positive, is in contention for the championship with a 7-3 record in the 15-day Dolphins Arena game.
