COVID-19: Oman posts 115 new cases, deaths

Cairo: Oman showed 1,145 new coronavirus on Friday, raising the country’s general infections to 73,791, Omani news firm ONA reported, citing the ministry of fitness.

Newly diagnosed cases come with 1,047 Omanis and 98 foreign residents, the ministry said.

Four new deaths by COVID-19 the total number of deaths in Oman to 359.

The country’s overall recovery from the disease reached 53,007, the ministry reported in an update.

In recent weeks, Oman has noticed an increase in viral infections, which has led the government to tighten preventive measures.

Oman will impose a complete blockade of its governorships for two weeks from Saturday to August 8.

During this period, the movement of others will be prohibited and all public places will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. Closure includes Eid Al Adha’s holiday.

Under the most recent restrictions, any bureaucracy of meetings, Eid prayers, greetings and classic markets is prohibited.
