The federal government said that 56,594,138 (representing 50. 6%) of the 111,776,503 eligible population have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Nigeria.

The executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, said this on Wednesday in Abuja upon receiving 22 ultra-low temperature freezers donated to Nigeria through the United Parcel Service Foundation (UPS).

He trusted Nigerians that the company is making steady progress in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Shuaib also said that the SCALES 3. 0 cross-strategy, which the company is implementing, provides an exclusive opportunity for vaccination of formative years and other number one physical care for beneficiaries along with COVID-19 vaccination.

“Let me take this opportunity to tell you that as of 19 October 2022, 56,594,138 (representing 50. 6%) of our 111,776,503 eligible people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Let me remind everyone at this time that our SCALES 3. 0 cross-crusade strategy provides an exclusive opportunity for vaccination of formative years and other PHC for beneficiaries at the same time as COVID-19 vaccination.

“We urge parents to bring their eligible children for vaccination against polio, yellow fever, measles and other vaccine-preventable formative years diseases to the same locations where adults also receive COVID-19 vaccines.

“Our cell groups also own all those vaccines when they get home. Welcome them and introduce yourself and your children eligible for vaccination, if applicable,” he said.

Shuaib said vaccination is making remarkable progress amid persistent misinformation and low threat perception, adding, “This has been imaginable thanks to the significant help we’ve gotten from our progression partners, adding United Parcel Services (UPS).

“We appreciate our partnership with UPS and will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure Nigeria fulfills its purpose of vaccinating part of its global population against COVID-19. As our country moves rapidly toward herd immunity, I firmly believe that no country in the world is immune to COVID-19 and no advertising entity is immune to adversity until we are all safe.

The head of NPHCDA congratulated the UPS Foundation for donating 22 ultra-low temperature freezers to Nigeria.

“This donation comes at the right time and responds to our need for energy-efficient bloodless chain systems for the vaccine garage in Nigeria,” he said.
