COVID-19: NCDC confirms 197 new infections, five more deaths

The NCDC did so on Thursday on its official Twitter account.

The firm said the total number of infections shown by COVID-19 in the country had reached 55,829.

He noted that the 197 infections reported in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory (TTF).

The NCDC reported that the number of deaths increased from 1,070 to 1,075, while the number of published instances also increased by 200.

Plateau leads with new cases, followed by Lagos with 48, Kaduna with 17 and FCT with 16 cases.

Others include Ogun (11), Katsina (7), Imo (4), Edo (3), Nasarawa (3), Rivers (2), Bayelsa (1), Oyo (1) and Osun (1).

The fitness firm said it had conducted about 433,206 tests since the first case was announced in February.

The firm said that to date 55,829 have been confirmed, 43,810 have been released and 1,075 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and CTF.

Meanwhile, the fitness firm said it had won passenger court cases departing Nigeria because airlines were rejecting the negative effects of COVID-19 from some accredited laboratories.

“This deserves not to be the case. We are working with other ministries and agencies through the Presidential Working Group (TFP) on COVID-19 to address the demanding situations faced by readers using Nigeria’s foreign portal.

“We also provide a document to answer travellers’ questions asked (FAQ).

“The document will be available on the NCDC (www. covid19. ncdc. gov. ng) online page and provide additional data to travelers,” the NCDC said.
