Cairo: Some 525,000 teachers will return to schools in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to set the level for the start of the new school year overshadowed by the new coronavirus’s global pandemic, according to a school official.
Last week, Saudi Education Minister Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sheikh said the first seven weeks of the school year on August 30 will feature distance education systems as a component of the kingdom’s efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Ministry of Education spokeswoman Ibtisam Al Shihiri said returning teachers will prepare for distance learning and will have to attend school at least one day a week.
“Several teachers already have their paintings and set school schedules,” Ibtisam told Saudi television Al Ekhabariya.
The ministry has ended up as an administrator in the use of the madrasti (My School) online platform and the instructor will end next week, the official said.
Saudi Arabia can expand distance education until schooling if a vaccine opposite COVID-19 is not available and its protection is verified, health minister Tawfik Al Rbiah said.
