According to the government’s decision, the charge of taking check samples from collection sites was reduced to 1200 ₹ from 1900 ₹ (which was established last month).
Collection of samples from kiosks, COVID-19 care collection centers, hospitals, clinics, laboratory quarantine centers will now charge between ₹ 1,600 and ₹ 2,200 previously.
The charge of picking up patients from the house, transporting them and reporting samples has been reduced from 2500 ₹ to 2,000, the government said.
The government has stated that the revised rates come with all taxes.
The government stepped in after a committee created through it for costs charged through personal laboratories filed its report.
Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) is a laboratory widely used in the diagnosis of genetic diseases and for measuring gene expression in research.
No lab can rate patients beyond those rates, the government said.
The government stated that industries had resumed operations as a component of their Mission Begin Again initiative in the state and that VTM and PPE kits, the N95 mask and the RNA extraction kit will now be obtained at moderate rates.
In addition, the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) has several new legal corporations to produce these drugs/equipment, which has led to their availability, at lower costs.
The number of laboratories has also increased through ICMR and the National Accreditation Board of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
Given all these factors, RT-PCR rates were expected to decline, the government said.
