COVID-19: Kuwait suspends 31 flights due to coronavirus

In Cairo, Kuwait’s civil aviation government said it had to suspend flights from 31 “high-risk” countries starting Saturday due to the new coronavirus.

These countries come with India, Pakistan, Egypt and the Philippines, which have giant expat communities in Kuwait.

Other countries on the list include Iran, China, Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Singapore, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Peru, Moldova, Singapore, Hong Kong, Panama, Chile and the Dominican Republic.

The suspension of the flight, in force with notice, was taken at the instruction of the aptitude authorities, the Kuwait Directorate-General for Civil Aviation said.

Kuwait International Airport reopened on Saturday for advertising flights after a suspension of more than 4 months, at 30% of its capacity as a component of a three-phase operational plan. The first phase lasts six months.
