COVID-19: Kuwait outperforms China in some cases

Kuwait: As of August 31, Kuwait has overtaken mainland China in the total number of COVID-19 cases.

Kuwait has reported 463 topical cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 85,109, to the Ministry of Fitness.

According to the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, as of August 30, mainland China had a total of 85,048 cases. In China’s 31 provincial regions, 17 new cases have been reported in more than 24 hours.

China still outperforms Kuwait in deaths: 4,634 deaths compared to 531 in Kuwait. The mortality rate in Kuwait is about 0. 006%, while in China it is 0. 05%.

In terms of recovery, China reported that another 80,177 people have recovered, while another 77,224 people have recovered in Kuwait.

Although it is not known who the “patient zero” is, according to unpublished data from the Chinese government, the first case of COVID-19 was detected in Wuhan on 17 November. When Kuwait announced the first infection on 24 February, China had a total of 77,150 cases.

In terms of deaths, China reported its first known death to COVID-19, a 61-year-old Wuhan resident, on January 11. Then, three months later, in April, Kuwait reported its first death to COVID-19.

By early March, China had already reported 80,000 cases shown; then, on March 19, China did not report local infections, but the announcement did not mean that China was free of the virus because it will have to report 0 cases in 14 consecutive days. After 3 consecutive days without a case, on March 22, China reported 46 new cases.

China and Kuwait have had types of blockade. The first blockade in China was the closure of Wuhan’s borders on January 23, when the Chinese government suspended all shipments to and from Wuhan. The blockade ended on April 8. The blockade was first implemented on March 22; then, on 10 May, Kuwait implemented a total of 20 days nationally to combat the spread of the virus. On 30 August, after a 161-day curfew, Kuwait ended the world’s longest consecutive blockade.

On 10 May, the first day of the national blockade, Kuwait announced its peak with 1,065 cases shown. China experienced an increase in cases on 28 July, pronouncing 64 new cases, the one-day peak since March.
