COVID-19: Kuwait cityship runs out of papers

Cairo: Kuwait’s municipality made the decision to end all paper correspondence in favor of online paintings in an effort to take precautionary measures to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, an official said.

“All paper correspondence and similar industrial bureaucracy have been banned in all areas of the municipality, assemblies and branches of the governorates, with the exception of texts of official documents and plans,” said Ahmed Al Manfouhi, director general of the municipality, according to Kuwaiti news firm KUNA.

He added that an electronic correspondence formula within the municipality and its affiliates has been finalized to operate. “The municipality has connected to government agencies to exchange correspondence electronically,” he added.

Earlier this week, Kuwait moved to a shorter 10-hour curfew to replace 6 p.m. until the curfew of 6 a.m. it has been in position for the last 3 weeks, as the country returns to general life amid strict precautions opposed to COVID-19.

Kuwait has shown a total of 41,879 cases of coronavirus infection, adding 337 similar deaths.
