COVID-19 instances in Alberta accumulated to 124 on Tuesday, third reported at Ross Sheppard High School

Alberta’s health services informed Edmonton public schools on Monday that a third high school user had tested positive. A third case at the Ivor Dent school was also shown through fitness officers on Monday. This case affects approximately 22 fourth graders and five academics and two staff members.

Ross Sheppard High School is the first COVID-19 outbreak at a school in Edmonton. An outbreak is explained through Alberta Health as having two cases in a school and being contagious within 14 days. Nagy said the instances in Archbishop O’Leary are not an epidemic because at least one of the instances has never been contagious in school.

“They are two very separate instances through AHS and do not meet the criteria of an epidemic,” Nagy said in an email on Monday.

On Monday, Alberta Deputy Minister of Education Andre Corbould said that about 98% of Albertans had no known cases.

Publicly announced instances on Tuesday are in addition to the 124 new instances of COVID-19 announced on the provincial government’s website.
