COVID-19: Infections fall into numbers with seven new ones today

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 August – The number of new instances in COVID-19 has returned to a singles figure with seven instances registered today, namely 4 imported transmissions and 3 local transmissions.

The Director-General of Health, Tan Sri, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said this raised the total number of instances to 9,219 and the number of active instances to 192.

He said the new instances in the country concerned three instances in Kedah, two from Cluster Sala and one from Cluster Tawar.

“The 4 imported instances, two Malasians and two non-citizens, 3 instances are from Bangladesh and one from the UNITED Kingdom,” he said at a press conference on coVID-19 progression today.

Dr. Noor Hisham said 26 have recovered from the virus today, bringing the cumulative number of recovered to 8,902 (96. 4% of the total number).

He said that to date, 8 cases of COVID-19 were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and two cases required respiratory assistance.

According to Dr. Noor Hisham, there has been no increase in COVID-19-related deaths today, keeping the death toll at 125.

In Tawar’s group, he said, with the addition of new cases, the number of other people tested positive in COVID-19 for the group recently 47.

“As of today, 1490 more people were screened in this group, or 1,195 more people were screened at Kedah with 40 positive cases, 858 negatives and another 297 people still awaiting the results.

“In Penang, 286 other people were screened and seven tested positive, 216 others tested negative and 63 were still waiting for the results, while in Perak, nine other people were screened and all tested negative,” he said.

Meanwhile, for the Sala group, two other people were declared HIV-positive, bringing the total to 8 cases.

He said that another 635 people had been screened for COVID-19 as a component of this group, of which 629 were tested in Kedah with 8 other people tested positive, 479 tested negative and 142 were still waiting for the results, while in Penang, six other people were evaluated with 4 negative tests and two others were still waiting for the results.

In developing the source of infection for the Tawar and Sala groups, Dr. Noor Hisham said that research into positive cases revealed that several non-unusual points had contributed to the spread of the infection in both groups.

“He found that the spread of the infection in tawar’s cluster was due to meetings between members of the circle of relatives who did not fully comply with popular operating procedures (PCOs).

“For example, the number of visitors corresponded to the length capacity of the area, with no physical distance between people. The patient rate and cause of infection are still being investigated.

For the Cluster Room, the index case has a history of visits to a patient in a hospital with several members of the family circle.

“Although no cases of COVID-19 were detected in hospital exams, all members of the circle of family members who came with the index case were positive,” he said.

He claimed that the infection then spread to the patient’s close contacts index and to the circle of relatives.

“It is feared that the scale of the hospital in may contribute to the spread of infection because there are many patients in the hospital and this carries a threat of infection,” he said.

Dr. Noor Hisham stated that transmission may have been reduced on any of the equipment by avoiding 3C, i. e. confined spaces, crowded spaces and close conversations.

“If there is an urgent desire to stop patients in the hospital, make sure that precautions are taken at all times, such as the use of mask at the stop and a physical distance of at least 1 meter from the patient or others. people with symptoms, in addition to practicing non-public hygiene, such as washing their hands with soap and water or using a hand sanitist,” he said. Declared.
