Cairo: Omani remain the main ones affected by the coronavirus in terms of infections and deaths in their country, which has a giant foreign community, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health.
Oman has reported a total of 88,337 cases of viruses and 762 deaths from COVID-19. Oman accounted for 536 of total COVID-19 deaths, while the remaining 226 deaths were recorded among foreign residents, according to a breakdown published by the online newspaper Shabiba.
So far, five4,831 Omani have inflamed 33,506 foreigners with the virus. Foreigners account for 2 million of Oman’s total population, or about five million.
Of all COVID-19 patients in the sultanate, men accounted for 64,372 cases compared to 23,965 among women.
On Thursday, Oman’s fitness minister, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammad Al Saeed, warned that infections in the country had increased this week and criticized some public establishments for asking all their workers to show up in the workplace.
