The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said Thursday that it had additionally trained its presidents for the election of the governor of the state of Edo on how physical distance between voters in polling stations.

Okoye said the commission will also launch its innovations, adding the “electoral effects visualization portal” that was tested at Nasarawa, with the aim of ensuring transparency in elections.
He said that while the commission would still use “Z-Pad” to load electoral effects on its compromised website, it has abandoned use as a secondary authentication mechanism for smart card readers.
“We’ve had some demanding situations with the Z-pad in terms of alignment with a card reader.
“Then, on that basis, we discovered that he was not strong enough to deploy us in a controversial election, such as the election of the governor of Edo. So we abandoned him so we can keep painting on him. “
Okoye also explained why the commission continues the elections for governor of Edo and Ondo, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said that due to the nature of the pandemic, more than 70 countries, adding complex countries, had postponed their elections, but that CENI could be only because of Nigeria’s specific constitutional circumstances.
“Paragraph 2 of article 178 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria prescribes a window in which what we call end-of-period elections will have to take place.
On the basis of this constitutional provision, we will have to hold the election of the governor of Edo until October 13, 2020, and we will have to hold the election of the governor of Ondo until January 15, 2021.
“So, on that basis, we still didn’t have a selection to settle those elections. If we hold the election of Edo on 14 October, it means that we have held elections.
“Everything we do will be null and void because, in the form of a letter, when lawmakers draw up a letter and assign dates within the framework of the letter.
“This implies that this specific date is removable, changed, adjusted and somehow falsified. “
