Aurangabad: In a significant verdict, Mumbai High Court said it is imaginable that the Tablighis who attended the Markaz in Delhi were “chosen to make scapegoats” and criticized the media propaganda that sought to blame them for the spread of COVID-19 in India.
The court said: “It can be said that because of the existing action, the concern was created in the minds of these Muslims. There is a smell of malice in taking action against these foreigners and Muslims for their alleged activities.”
In Friday’s decision, Judge T.V.Nalawade and Judge M.G.Sewlikar overturned the initial reports opposed to many Indians and foreigners who attended the Markaz congregation in the capital this year.
“There is almost persecution of these foreigners. A political government is looking to locate the scapegoat Array …and cases show that these foreigners were most likely selected to become scapegoats,” the court said.
Making strong observations, the court stated that there was “great propaganda in the print and electronic press opposed to these foreigners and an attempt was made to create a symbol that these foreigners were guilty of the spread of the coronavirus in India.”
