Covid-19: India reports new infections, active cases drop to 1,475

New Delhi: India recorded new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the number of active cases to 1,475, according to a Public Health Ministry update on Monday.

The total number of cases reported, since the pandemic struck in early 2020, stands at 4. 49 crore (4,49,94,325), and the death toll at 5,31,908.

Meanwhile, the number of active people has fallen to 1,475, bringing the total number of covid to more than 4. 50 crore so far.

Covid cases have declined in the past three months after a surge in infections due to the XBB. 1. 16 Omicron variant.

Health experts have noted a steady decline in hospitalizations due to fewer cases. Despite this, older people and those with comorbidities remain at risk. Vulnerable populations have been urged to receive their booster shots and continue practicing Covid-19 protocols. Experts say existing coronavirus variants will likely be less severe because of widespread hybrid immunity, a result of vaccination efforts or herbal infections.

So far, about 44,460,942 more people have recovered from the infection, and 58 recoveries have been reported in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is 98. 81%.

Around 22,765 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests to Rs 92. 93 crore.

As part of the Covid vaccination campaign, more than 220. 67 million vaccine doses have been administered to people across the country. In the last 24 hours, approximately 102 vaccine doses have been administered.
