COVID-19 in India rises to approximately 14 lakh with approximately 50,000 new cases

With 48661 other people who tested positive for coronavirus infection in one day, the COVID-19 count in India increased to 13,85,522 on Sunday, while recoveries amounted to 8,85,576, as reported by the Ministry of Health of the Union.

Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir reported nine deaths each, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 8 dead, Haryana seven, Kerala five, Goa four, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry, Uttarakhand and Nagaland 3 each, while Assam and Ladakh each recorded one death.

Of the total of 32,063 deaths reported to date, Maharashtra leads with 13,389 deaths, followed by Delhi 3806, Tamil Nadu 3,409 Gujarat 2,300, Karnataka 1,796, Uttar Pradesh 1,387, West Bengal 1,332, Andhra Pradesh 985 and Madhya Pradesh 799.

So far, another 613 people have been killed by COVID-19 in Rajasthan, 455 in Telangana (updated state government figures are expected), 389 in Haryana, 305 in Jammu and Kashmir, 291 in Punjab, 234 in Bihar, 130 in Odisha, 77 in Assam, 82 years in Jharkhand, 63 in Utta-and-rak and 59 in Kerala.

Chhattisgarh recorded 39 deaths, Pondicherry 38, Goa 33, Chandigarh 13, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura 11 each, Meghalaya five, Arunachal Pradesh three, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu two and Ladakh three. Nagaland reported four deaths.

The Ministry of Health noted that more than 70% of deaths were caused by comorities. Maharashtra reported the number of cases with 3,666,368, followed by Tamil Nadu 2 06 737, Delhi 1 29,531, Karnataka 90 942, Andhra Pradesh 88,671, Uttar Pradesh 63,742 West Bengal 56,377 and Gujarat 54,626.

The number of COVID-19s increased to 52,466 in Telangana (updated state government figures are expected), 35,298 in Rajasthan, 36,604 in Bihar, 30,538 in Haryana, 31,086 in Assam and 26,926 in Madhya Pradesh.

Odisha reported 24,013 infections, Jammu and Kashmir 17,305, Kerala 18,098 and Punjab 12,684.

A total of 7836 more people were inflamed with the virus in Jharkhand, 7087 in Chhattisgarh, 5445 in Uttarakhand, 4686 in Goa, 3862 in Tripura, 2654 in Pondicherry, 2176 in Manipur, 2049 in Himachal Pradesh and 1276 in Ladakh.

Nagaland recorded 1289 COVID-19, Arunachal Pradesh 1126 and Chandigarh 852.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu together have reported 860 cases. Meghalaya has reported 646 cases, Sikkim 499, Mizoram 361, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands 290 cases.

“Our figures are being reconciled with ICMR,” the ministry said, adding that the distribution of figures across the state is a matter of verification and reconciliation.
