SINGAPORE – At the age of 62, Mr Raymond Leong wishes to retire.
The former senior sales manager worked for a cruise ship and special occasion company, but about a year and a half after joining the company, he was told he would be fired due to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the company.
Recounting his joy at the dismissal, he said, “When I was told, I did not react. In fact, it was my quick one who burst into tears and my colleagues were in shock.
While ordering his belongings and leaving the workplace in 30 minutes because he didn’t need to galvanize a scene, he spent the next month crying to fall asleep once the truth of the stage had been established.
“I felt they treated me unfairly and kept thinking, “Why me?”. I found it non-public,” Leong said, adding that, according to his wisdom, he is the only user fired through the company.
Mr. Leong, who lives alone, has spent more than 30 years in tourism and industry.
He’s on the road every morning at 6:30 a.m.as a gripping force and works 12 hours.
You can earn up to $180 “on a smart day,” but expect to continue using your years of industry experience to do something else.
It was even implemented to be a temperature taker for an organization, but rejected it because of its age.
“I think other people just look at the resume and say, “Oh, it’s too old, ” and you may not give me a chance,” said Mr. Leong, who works in the gym almost every day.”It is difficult, however, I try to be positive and open about it.”
“You have to settle for the truth of staff reduction because Covid-19 has created unprecedented times,” he added.
