MANILA, Philippines – Corrections Office (BuCor) leader Gerald Bantag underwent tests for coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
Bantag, in a phone interview, said he started feeling the symptoms last Friday.
He said he had only taken acetaminophen and vitamin C and that until the third night he had to feel better.
Bantag said he would no longer seek hospitalization because he was feeling better now.
“Hindi na [hospitalization]. Wala na naman akong nararamdaman. The fourth of May naman ako dito. [I don’t want hospitalization because I no longer feel any symptoms of [COVID-19] and I have my own community here [BuCor], ” said Bantag.
Bantag thought he would possibly have the disease of his driving force and nearby security personnel, any of whom tested positive for COVID-19.
He added that his three nearby security guards also had a fever.
He said they thought it was just a fever, but after his driving force and close security tested positive and felt the symptoms, he said he and his other security guards had been screened for a sample.
In addition to Bantag, BuCor spokesman Gabriel Chaclag also conducted COVID-19 tests.
