COVID-19: Gulf Air from Bahrain flies to Kuwait

Cairo: Bahrain’s domestic airline Gulf Air said it had resumed flights to Kuwait after Kuwait reopened its airport for foreign flights after a break of approximately five months.

Gulf Air said it prides itself on resuming flights to Kuwait, an activity it has been doing since 1959. The airline released images of a plane with flags from Bahrain and Kuwait marking the restart of flights to the Gulf country.

The airline was one of the few airlines that continued its scheduled flights during the COVID-19 crisis.

On 29 June, Kuwait approved a three-stage plan to resume advertising flights to and from Kuwait from 1 August.

Approximately one hundred flights with a maximum of 10,000 passengers according to the day are allowed in the first phase of recovery with the day.

In the current phase that begins on February 1 and for another six months, Kuwait International Airport will operate at 60% of its overall capacity. The expected number of passengers at this stage shall not exceed 20,000 in line with the day on a maximum number of flights of 200.

The 3rd phase, which will begin in August next year, will mark a return to full capacity.
