COVID-19: five states account for 60% of India’s recovery

With 94612 people recovering from COVID-19 in 24 hours, the total number of recoveries in the country has increased to 43,03,043, bringing the national recovery rate to 79. 68%, the Ministry of Health announced Sunday.

Up to 60% of new recoveries were reported in states – Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu – which also accounted for 52% of new cases, the ministry said.

A total of 92,605 new CASES of COVID-19 have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 54,00,619.

“In addition, 52 percent of new instances are concentrated in five states. They are also the states that contribute as much as you can imagine to the new recoveries,” the ministry emphasized.

Maharashtra accounted for more than 20,000 (22. 16%) new cases. Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka accounted for more than 8,000 cases, he said.

A total of 1,133 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 86752, the ministry said, adding that 425 or 37% of the reported deaths on Saturday came here from Maharashtra, followed by Karnataka. (114) and Uttar Pradesh (84).
