COVID-19: FG to the vaccination regimen

The federal government hopes to continue the immunization regimen against other communicable diseases despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire, represented through State Minister Olorunnimbe Mamora, offered assurances monday in Abuja at the Presidential Working Group (PTF) briefing on COVID-19.

He said the pandemic also underlined the importance of vaccination and vaccination for fitness and that strengthening the immunization regimen will continue to attract attention, especially as Nigeria will obtain its polio-free certification this week.

“We will not lose sight of the fact that COVID-19 is not the only physical challenge facing our people. We will make sure that every day the facilities are strengthened.

“As a result, on Friday, August 21, 2020, I had the thrill of commissioning 456 motorcycles and computers to the capacity of the regime’s immunization staff to oversee aid service providers and help generate and use on-site the program’s knowledge for the quality of the vaccination program in Nigeria,” Mamora said.

He also said that by Monday, August 24, Nigeria had unfortunately lost more than a thousand people to COVID-19, with a total of 1002 deaths.

According to him, each of these people lost a circle of relatives and a joy for several people.

While reiterating the importance of adhering to non-pharmaceutical interventions to combat the virus, the Minister added that Nigeria had also recorded 52227 positive cases in COVID-19 of the 379,542 samples analysed and treated and returned 38,945 people.

“As we remain informed of our joy in managing COVID-19, the desire for quality of care, strengthening the fitness formula and patient evacuation in a transparent manner, especially in emergencies, has become crucial,” he said.

The federal government is confident that it will continue the systematic vaccination of other Arrays.
