COVID-19: FG rejects palliatives discovered in Lagos warehouse

The federal government disallowed the COVID-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Lagos, claiming that the parts did come from it.

Instead, he stated that the inscriptions on the back of the articles indicated that they had been donated through a coalition of some non-allied organizations.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, on a Thursday night, insisted that contrary to the trust of some sectors, the articles did not come from it.

Via Nneka Anibeze, the minister’s special assistant, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the ministry was obliged to speak to explain the disruptions following insinuations that the articles had been delivered through the ministry.

It said in its entirety: “The Federal Department of Disaster Management and Social Development of Humanitarian Affairs became aware of trends in messages on and off social media alluding to the fact that the Covid-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Lagos came here from the Ministry.

“It’s nothing yet an internet of lies.

Photos and videos recorded in the warehouse show that rice bags and other pieces obviously bore the words “Government of the State of Lagos and Ca-Covid”.

“Ca-Covid is short for Coalition Against Covid-19, a private sector-led initiative in partnership with the federal government, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) with the sole goal of fighting Covid-19 in Nigeria.

“The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has purchased, distributed or facilitated the distribution of palliatives under the Ca-Covid initiative

“The ministry wants to tell the general public that it has nothing to do with the pieces discovered in this Lagos warehouse. “
