COVID-19: Expanded capacity in Metro Vancouver

The COVID-19’s control capacity has been extended on the Vancouver Metro, with the opening of a new downtown in Vancouver and an extended opening hours in the Fraser Health area.

A new control for the COVID-19 virus is now open in Vancouver, fitness officials announced Wednesday.

Located in the north parking lot of Vancouver Community College on East 7th Avenue between Keith and Glen Drive, the site is open from nine a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Vancouver Coastal Health says it can accommodate customers without an appointment and by car.

The fitness authority said a new assessment center is expected to open in North Vancouver in the coming weeks and opening times in Richmond and locations will increase.

Visitors to Vancouver’s new COVID-19 check will not want a referral or appointment, and will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will be an evaluation to check for others with symptoms of COVID-19, adding fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, and muscle pain.

Health officials say COVID-19 control is not for other people without symptoms.

Meanwhile, in the Fraser Health area, several control centers will increase their opening hours or open new driving control pathways.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have ensured that every single user in our region who wants to do so can conduct assessments and tests. We closely track volumes and respond to what we see in our region,” dr. Victoria Lee, president of Fraser Health.

“To meet the increased demand for testing, we are expanding where they are needed to help others gain quick access to assessments and testing, and to ensure that we minimize the threat of COVID-19 transmission in our communities.”

To date, Fraser Health has established stewardesses at the centers to manage the lines and examine others without symptoms that do not wish to be controlled, as well as more staff and prolonged hours at their control sites in Burnaby, Delta and Chilliwack.

Traffic has been implemented at its Langley control center, while a control lane will now be available at the Surrey-Whalley Primary care and Emergency Center for those who do not require evaluation.

Other driving service lanes will soon open in downtown Burnaby, while Langley and Abbotsford checkpoints will have extended opening hours that will take effect in the coming weeks.

New high-volume transitive facilities and assessments are being established in Surrey and the northwest area of Fraser, while all bookings and previous records will soon be centralized online and over the phone.
