COVID-19: End of the state of emergency in Brazil

The state of public health emergency of national importance, declared in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, ended on Sunday, May 22. A decree signed on April 22 by Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga introduces a 30-day deadline for states and municipalities to adapt.

The epidemiological criteria, understood by the ministry’s technicians, imply that the country is no longer in a national public health emergency,” the ministry said in a statement.
