For fitness staff across the country, award-winning actor Desmond Elliot has partnered with the crowdfunding platform Giving.Ng to raise a $1 billion fund for fitness staff.
Elliot, who is also a member of the Lagos State Assembly, shared a video on his Instagram page stating that it is mandatory that those who care for those with health problems should also be cared for.
Giving.Ng announced a crowdfunding crusade for fitness workers, who were on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic a few weeks ago.
The fund was set up to help take care of their hazard allowances as most of them in Nigeria earn just N5,000 ($14) monthly.
The fund provides them with a minimum of N100,000 consistent with the month and is led through a diversified and multisectoral board led by Dr. Olaokun Soyinka.
