ISTANBUL – The number of deaths in Turkey due to coronavirus increased to 36 on Friday, its highest point since mid-May, while the number of new cases rose again above 1,500, according to data from the Ministry of Fitness.
This week, the point of new instances reached the degrees last noticed in mid-June, which led the government to impose measures to combat the spread of the pandemic.
The Ministry of Health figures showed a total of 1,517 new instances on Friday, bringing the total number of instances to 265,515. The daily death toll is the highest since 17 May, when it stood at 44. The total death toll in Turkey is 6,245.
In response to growing figures this week, President Tayyip Erdogan announced that all state establishments could now put in place “flexible race methods,” while the Home Office said it banned certain occasions and celebrations. (Report through Daren Butler; Edited through Alison Williams)
