COVID-19 crisis will weigh on auto profits, says AlixPartners executive

Stefano Aversa, director of AlixPartners Europe, believes the EU will delay the implementation of the region’s strictest CO2 emission regulations until next year.

Stefano Aversa, who runs the AlixPartners consulting corporation in Europe, says the automotive industry “should about 2020 as soon as possible and move on.” His company predicts that the coronavirus pandemic will result in a 32% drop in European vehicle sales this year, which will decrease profits. Therefore, it predicts that top car manufacturers and suppliers will use 2020 to “clean their balance sheets”. Aversa discussed this with Luca Ciferri, associate editor and editor-in-chief of Automotive News Europe, and correspondent Andrea Malan.
