Law enforcement officials in East Java, Indonesia, have pointed to grave excavation as one of the sanctions implemented for those violating Covid-19 fitness protocols.
According to a CNN report, the local government is forcing criminals to dig graves for Covid-19 sufferers in the hope that the paintings will convince them to make their component to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Other consequences of non-compliance, such as dressing in a mask, come with mendacity in coffins, praying for those suffering from Covid-19 in cemeteries, and push-ups.
Indonesia has a mask mandate, some have opposed this and social estating. According to Johns Hopkins University, there are 244,676 cases of Covid-19 and 9,553 deaths in the country.
Officials in the country issued the mask arrest warrant in April and allowed the local government to impose sanctions for disobeying the rule.
So far, eight other people who refused to wear masks have been forced to dig graves for the covid-19 sufferers.
The district chief, known through the Indonesian newsstand Tribun News as Hisno, proposed the punishment of digging a pit due to the lack of undertakers in the area.
