Cairo: A Kuwaiti doctor died as a result of COVID-19, the first such death among Kuwaiti fitness professionals.

Dr. Abdullah Shuaib, a surgeon, contracted the virus about 40 years ago from the Ministry of Public Works in early June, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas reported.

He entered an intensive care unit at Jaber Hospital with fitness complications.

Kuwait’s Health Minister, Dr. Basel Al Sabah, lamented Dr. Shuaib’s death and expressed his condolences to his family. “We ask Allah Almighty to bless him with his mercy and forgiveness,” the minister said in a tweet.

Kuwait has recorded a total of 60,434 viral infections and 412 related infections.
