Covid-19 cases per lakh population are even higher than in urban areas, says Singhal

VIJAYAWADA: Although the Covid-19 epidemic in recent days seems to be more endemic in rural areas, trend research, taking into account the number of cases consistent with population lakh in urban and rural areas, paints a different picture. said Chief Secretary (Health) Anil Kumar Singhal.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, he said that between May 16 and 22, 1,42,707 cases were reported in the state, totaling 86,649 cases in rural areas, that is, 61 of the cases occurred in rural areas.

“If knowledge is projected as it is, without analysis, it would be misleading and create unnecessary panic among other people in rural spaces. When looking at the extent of the spread and accumulation of cases, we will also need to take the population into account. “According to the 2011 census, 1. 46 million people in the state live in urban areas, while 3. 49 million people live in rural areas of the Palestinian Authority. In other words, 29. 46 percent of the population are urban dwellers. As for the number of cases consistent with lakh de capita, the figures amount to 383 in urban areas and 248 in rural areas,” he explained.

Singhal downplayed reports suggesting that the rise in Covid infections in rural spaces was due to exemptions to certain curfew rules and a lack of excessive curfew implementation.   As for reports of private hospitals overcharging Covid patients, he said serious consequences had been imposed on many establishments for such violations.

Regarding black fungus cases, Singhal said that as of Thursday, 579 cases had been reported in the state. “We have won another 1,800 vials of injectable amphotericin B to treat black fungus, and these have been sent to the districts. “3,000 vials of medicine were sent, in addition, 240 vials of injectable Posaconazole and 8,340 tablets of Posaconazole were obtained from the Center and sent to the districts. Both products are also used in black fungus remedy,” he said. .

Singhal said discharges have increased in hospitals and Covid care facilities compared to admissions. As of Thursday, a total of 812 of 6,226 extensive care beds were empty. The principal secretary said the availability of oxygen materials in the state has increased. “In the face of the cyclone, the state had requested one-time allocations of oxygen. During the last week, the amount of oxygen returned to the State exceeded the five 90 tons allocated. Thanks to the increased capacity of garages in hospitals and According to the source, the state may have a reserve reserve.
