The number of coronavirus cases in Israel is reaching 50,000, the country’s ministry of physical fitness said On Sunday.
Some 1,595 more people were diagnosed with the virus between Saturday and Sunday, with a total of 49575 cases shown, according to the knowledge of the Ministry of Health.
COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 406 Israelis, while 21,440 have recovered from the virus.
The ministry noted that 25,033 tests were conducted over the weekend, of which 8.1% returned with results.
The number of patients hospitalized with coronavirus reached three months of 649, reminiscent of the heights of the first outbreak in March and April, when 783 Israelis were hospitalized.
Hospital directors on Sunday warned officials who oppose the growing number of medical workers exposed to the virus.
Some 2,908 medical bodies of workers have recently been isolated, adding 819 nurses and 509 doctors, 645 maintenance workers, 244 auxiliaries, 102 physiotherapists, 60 pharmacists and 55 laboratory technicians.
