COVID-19 cases in Iran exceed 375,000; Middle Eastern countries start new school year amid coronavirus concerns

EL CAIRO – The total number of COVID-19 cases in Iran exceeded 375,000 on Monday, while many Middle Eastern countries are starting the new school year amid considerations of the spread of COVID-19.

Iran, the most affected country in the Middle East region, reported a night of 1,642 new coronavirus infections, bringing the country’s total to 375212.

Of the new cases, 573 patients were hospitalized, the spokeswoman for Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Sima Sadat Lari, said in her briefing.
