COVID-19 cases are emerging in India, here’s how states are preparing

While India records 227 new coronavirus infections, while active instances rose to 3424 on Dec. 25, states have beefed up their testing services and are issuing rules to follow.

Bihar: The state government is conducting around 40,000 to 50,000 coronavirus infection tests due to the Covid-19 outbreak in China and some other countries. In addition, the state is on high alert, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.

Karnataka: CM Basavaraj Bommai, on December 24, called on other people to be careful and said his government is taking all precautionary measures. Health branch officials are tasked with expanding booster coverage.

Maharashtra: The state’s fitness minister, Tanaji Sawant, said on Thursday that the government will adhere to the program of 5 points of testing, monitoring, treatment, vaccination and ensuring adequate habits for COVID to face the recent risk of emerging cases of Covid 19. Uttar Pradesh: On Thursday, the UP government made COVID-19 testing mandatory for access to the Taj Mahal and other popular destinations in the state. CM Yogi Adityanath called on officials to continue sequencing the genome of the new cases. Delhi: Delhi’s Health Secretary Amit Singla presided over an assembly with all district magistrates on December 25. CM Arvind Kejriwal said officials will physically visit all Delhi’s public hospitals and check their readiness to deal with any eventuality.

Jharkhand: Jharkhand Premier Hemant Soren is expected to hold a high-level assembly on December 26 (Monday) on the state government’s arrangements for the Covid-19 situation, an official said on Saturday.

Similar measures have been taken across many States and some States plan to make recommendations after reviewing the situation.
