COVID-19 Cases and Deaths Rise in Midwest Minnesota in State Weekly Report

Three deaths and 413 new cases, two more deaths and 20 more new cases than last week, were reported in the week beginning Oct. 23. All 3 deaths were reported in Stearns County. The West Central Tribune tracks reports from 11 counties in the region. .

The status report on new instances is an undercount because the effects of home verification are included.

In west-central Minnesota, another 19 people from counties in the region were reportedly hospitalized: 14 in Stearns, 3 in Meeker, one in Kandiyohi and one in Renville counties.

In June 2022, the branch began offering a weekly update, replacing updates that began in spring 2020.

Updates are posted every Thursday at 11 a. m. M. y come with information obtained at 4 a. m. M. last Tuesday. When the report refers to last week’s figures, it refers to data collected from Sunday to Saturday in the week before the data is released.

In all cases, the numbers in the updates are initial and may be replaced as more data is received.

The existing total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the state now stands at 13,501, an increase of 48 since last week’s report.

New reported last week:

The cumulative number of instances in the state is now 1,691,086, adding reinfections. That’s more than 5,000 new instances last week. People who tested positive for COVID-19 more than 90 days after a first laboratory-confirmed positive test should be reinfected.

The state has reported another 482 people hospitalized with COVID-19, as of Nov. 1. This includes another 431 people hospitalized in medical sets and another 51 people in intensive care sets. Last week’s update indicated about 50 fewer people in medical sets, but about 20 more in intensive care sets.

The state also reports vaccine administration figures. As of Nov. 1, 3,994,310 Minnesotans, or 71. 8 percent, had gained at least one dose, and 3,756,444, or 67. 5 percent of the state’s population, had completed the statewide vaccine series.

The number of other people listed as up-to-date with their vaccines, who have gained boosters, is 742,891, or 13. 4 percent of the state’s.
