As Nigerian airspace opens up to foreign travel, measures have been put in place to ensure the protection of all passengers entering and leaving Nigeria as the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic breaks out.
These measures come with the launch of the Nigerian International Travel Portal (NITP) through the Presidential Working Group on COVID-19 (PTF-COVID-19) with the Private Sector Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID). is recently hosted on the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) website, comprising a list of mandatory protocols that travellers will need to follow.
The protocol states that all persons arriving in Nigeria must have undergone negative COVID-19 control after undergoing PCR control in the country of departure prior to boarding; however, the check must be carried out within 96 hours. preferably 72 hours before boarding. In addition, passengers must pay the repeated COVID-19 PCR check upon arrival in Nigeria.
The repetition check will be carried out 7 days after arrival, where strict compliance with self-insulating rules must be observed. “Before boarding, passengers must upload their negative effects of PCR COVID-19 to the national payment portal and bring an electronic or paper copy of the result for presentation at the airport, while at the time of boarding all passengers will pass thermal control. for fever and questioned by COVID-19 symptoms,” the protocol says.
