COVID-19 arrives at Herndon CVS pharmacy

HERNDON, VA – The procedure for Herndon citizens who wish to get tested for COVID-19, the virus related to the new coronavirus, will soon be like visiting their local pharmacy.

CVS Health announced Thursday that it will load 2,000 more COVID-19 driving check sites at CVS pharmacies across the country, adding one in Herndon.

CVS Health, which already manages the largest number of independently controlled COVID-019 sites in the United States, aims to have more than 4,000 operational sites through mid-October. In the coming weeks, it will deploy new sites in 33 states and washington, D. C. 400 of which will be open this Friday.

“Since the opening of our first check site in March, we have had to temporarily adapt to landscape conversion to allow others in the communities we serve to have access to checks,” said Jon Roberts, ceo of CVS Health and Acting. President of CVS Pharmacy, in a statement. “We recognize the essential role of controlling in managing the spread of the virus and are incredibly proud of how our groups have responded to this desire as they cared for our consumers and patients.

CVS sites will use self-assessment tests, which will be available to others who meet CDC criteria in addition to age guidelines. Patients who wish to be tested should register in advance on the CVS online page to make an appointment.
