In reaction to the threats and risks of Covid-19, the protective mask for the dressed nose is now a component of our dressing. Nigeria is a component of this new human development.
In many cities and towns across the country, nasal masks are sold freely on the streets and even in traffic. It has a not very unusual industrial object. However, it is as smart as possible with regard to Nigeria.
If the ubiquity of the mask and other facial protections is a measure of our compliance with the mandatory precautionary measures opposed to Covid-19, you may have something else to come.
This is a little larger in the city of Lagos, where “masking” as a necessity is gradually established in the population, especially with strict government regulations on this issue.
However, the same cannot be said of many other states in Nigeria. Instead, it is more of a “pretentious need” with many people, as the mask and other face blankets “simply straighten out.”
In public places across the country, adding in Lagos, it is not unusual to see other people dressed in masks and falling under the chin. Some even wear a protective mask, however, they have fallen to spread the nose and cover only the mouth. For other people, they simply prefer to hold it and show it, than when asked.
And, the mask or shield is the new fashion. It is basically appreciated for its aesthetic price beyond its protective capacity. People now use it as an adaptive fashion accessory, with little regard for its coverage as opposed to Covid-19 microorganisms.
Ideally, shield face should be complemented with the nose mask as the Coronavirus can go behind the mask and be inhaled by a wearer. The shield is supposed to be a screen against involuntary touching of the face.
In Ibadan, the country’s third largest city and the state capital of Oyo, many still consider Covid-19 to be an elitist condition, if they believe it exists. The business continues as in this densely populated city of more than five million people. Markets are complete of other people with no attention or idea for Covid-19. This is typical of many places across the country.
Most of Ibadan’s taxis are “small and compact” Micra cars. Without harassment or caution by law enforcement, six other people (including 3 in the back seat, two in the front passenger seat and driver) travel in taxis in Ibadan, and the nasal mask or blanket is rare a rareness.
Social estrangement protocols do not exist in Ibadan, as in many other places in Nigeria, and we wonder why the number of other people inflamed is increasing.
Kano occupies the unenviable position of Covid-19 epicenter in Nigeria’s northern component and, despite the state government’s initial carefree attitude, especially its politicization of the crisis, citizens are even worse.
The government has resorted to an instinctive position of denial and lies and guilt of deaths to itself and their mismanagement and lack of preparedness. He is not a major in the state of Kogi, where the government has buried his head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich, even when the rest of the world looks at his bare ass.
Even with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia contracting coronavirus, one would expect this to regain the severity of the pandemic. It’s attractive to note that nothing turns out to be extra than the truth. Whether in Kaduna, Ebonyi, Edo, Ondo, Katsina, Akwa Ibom, Yobe or Benue, the story is the same: other people find it difficult for Covid-19 to be genuine because they have learned not to accept as true with their leaders.
They are accustomed to the lie of their leaders and other devices to lie to them and alienate them. For the maximum population, coronavirus is just another ploy by its leaders to break the social contract between the government and citizens and inflate their pockets.
Yes, the pandemic is a major challenge for all things overall, but the transition to new general and crisis control would have been less difficult if leaders in all grades had strengthened the capacity of public systems. Today, our country and its socio-economic systems are paralyzed by the unrest of the past, or I say the inactions of the past.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic is a global challenge, and external donations such as grants and aid (which we are accustomed to and used to cover their bragged expansions and failures) might not be done smoothly as we have been doing. accustomed to.
Other countries and organizations face the same crises and only the most inventive and cursed will do better. For years, we had continued as if we were insensitive to crises and challenges, but Covid-19 came here to tell us that what you don’t do will hang you (and maybe destroy you).
As motivational speakers will say, “If you don’t plan, you’re just planning to fail.” We haven’t planned it and the effects are transparent to everyone.
On a micro-social level, we will not forget that the maximum fundamental precautions opposed to the spread and touch of Coronavirus come with hand washing, social distance and nose and face coverage.
Faced with the limits or total absence of our physical care system, it is the duty of citizens to protect themselves and the government leads the implementation of the new standard. But, from the way it’s happening right now, we don’t seem to recognize that our “I don’t care” or “ok” attitude can’t help anyone.
For the duration of this pandemic, and for the intelligence of all involved, it is vital to do everything right in the position (fight) opposite Covid-19. The new general is the way with us.
The new popular leader will be guilty and forward-looking, good economic planning, security, judicious allocation of resources, effective and inventive institutions, and a commitment to the social contract between the government and people, among others.
This is the new (expected) popular that will be the norm in Nigeria.
