COVID-19: 70% of Oman population will be vaccinated by the end of 2021

Dubai: more than 70% of Oman’s citizens will be vaccinated until the end of 2021, Oman’s fitness minister said.

Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi’s comments come at a time when Oman is preparing for a mass vaccination crusade next month, as others over the age of forty-five are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said there are rules for vaccination campaigns in public establishments and schools and for services such as the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre and sports complexes in Muscat and other governorates.

“Mobile immunization campaigns will continue until the end of 2021, when more than 70% of citizens will get the COVID-19 vaccine,” Al Saidi said.

According to the minister, Oman will get a million doses of PfizerbioNTech, in addition to 100,000 doses from corporations in June.

The minister said the existing plan focused on a fair distribution of the vaccine in relation to population density. Al Saidi added that 1. 5 million more people are expected to be vaccinated by the end of June 2021.

According to the Health Minister, groups will be formed to vaccinate everyone in government establishments and to supply COVID-19 vaccines to the personal sector “through clinics at giant corporations and legal personal fitness services to administer the vaccine. “
