The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 526 instances of COVID-19 have recently been admitted to the Federal Capital Territory.
The new figures were published in the NCDC official at 12:00 p. m. on Friday, September 18, 2020.
The figures were released as a result of the reconciliation of the figures through the NCDC and the Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Health and Social Services.
The acting secretary of the CTF’s Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr. Mohammed Kawu, spoke to the reporter Monday about development, following the publication of new rules on the progress of the Nigerian Centers for Disease Control (NCDC), fcT Health and Human Services. The Secretariat has followed the criteria for meeting the largest number of active instances in the Community.
He said reconciliation needed to end the number disparity between the NCDC and the FCT Administration in relation to the actual number of active instances in the territory.
He said that to improve pattern collection during the blocking period, FCT initiated an active case search and network testing based on the knowledge of the cases shown.
However, he explained that with the increasing volume of CTF tests adding people of interest (POIs), most refused admission to rehabilitation centres, resulting in a giant number of cases shown in the Community.
These instances continue to contribute to the largest number of active instances that are reflected in CTF statistics.
His words: “Based on the new rules on the rejection of the NCDC, together with the rejection of active instances in the Community, FCT has followed the criteria for downloading the largest number of active instances in the Community.
“Out of a total of 5461 cases of COVID – 19 cases as of September 13, 2024 were admitted to the various rehabilitation centers with 1925 hospital discharges and 36 deaths, while 64 were still in admission. There were 38 more deaths in outdoor rehabilitation centers. Leaving a total of 3462 instances considered active.
“In addition, based on our findings and in accordance with NCDC guidelines for network downloading, the FCT has downloaded 2, 967 instances (2, 958 alive and healthy nine deaths) from the network. Therefore, as of September 13, 2020, FCT had only 4nine5 active instances of COVID-1nine. “
Dr. Kawu added: “Based on the new NCDC discharge criteria, all instances that are at least 3 weeks from the confirmation date as inactive and outside the COVID-19 route. In this way, we were able to separate the differences between the instances that were actually treated in our isolation centers and those that remained on the network for more than 3 weeks after confirmation.
With this development, the NCDC indicates that Lagos now has the highest number of active instances of COVID-19 with 3,318 followed by Oyo 1,085; Plateau is third with 922, while FCT now ranks fourth in the table with 526 active instances.
He also indicated that all hands are on deck to eliminate COVID-19 in the CTF and across the country.
